Commitment to Safeguarding

Prioritizing the Safety of Every Young Person in Our Care.

Building a nurturing environment

Nothing matters more than the safety and emotional wellbeing of our learners

We believe safeguarding is a shared responsibility. From our leadership team to our support staff, everyone promotes a culture of vigilance and care. Our procedures are rigorously designed in line with the Children Act 1989, the Education Act 2002, and the Children Act 2004.

Our Approach

The safety and wellbeing of our learners is our highest priority, and this starts with the team we build. We maintain strict teacher recruitment standards, ensuring that every member of staff is DBS-checked, highly experienced, and continuously trained in child protection. To support this, our virtual learning environment is built on secure, monitored platforms that adhere to the highest technical standards, ensuring your child learns in a safe digital space.

We also believe that true safeguarding involves education. We integrate safety and welfare topics directly into our learning programmes, equipping students with the tools to navigate online risks and emotional challenges. By creating a supportive culture where every student is valued, we encourage them to find their voice. Our goal is to ensure that if a student ever feels worried or uncomfortable, they have the confidence to speak up, knowing they will be heard and supported immediately.

Online Safety

Online safety is central to our provision. We have designed the HIAC platform with the utmost security to ensure a safe learning environment, but we also believe in empowering families to stay safe outside of school hours. Our curriculum teaches students to critically assess what they see online and maintain positive conduct, but we also recommend that families take practical steps at home.

This includes ensuring all home devices are protected with updated anti-virus software and firewalls. We also advise students to be vigilant about data privacy, teaching them to always check for the secure "padlock" icon and secure URLs when browsing. For further support, we collaborate with and recommend organizations such as Internet Matters, which offer specialized advice to help parents and carers keep their children secure in an ever-changing digital landscape.
